چکیده

Abstract Background Biological markers of acute nerve cell damage can assist in the outcome ischemic stroke, such as neuron-specific enolase (NSE) that have been tested for association with initial severity extent infarction, and functional outcome. Objective To determine short-term prognostic value biochemical marker stroke. Methods A cohort study carried out on 37 patients Data were gathered a prepared data sheet. Initial serum NSE level was measured to Emergency department within 6 h onset stroke another measurement after 48 h. National Institute Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) held at presentation 28 days morbidity mortality. Results Out patients, 31 survived (no-death group) died (death group). The mean significantly higher death group than no-death group. There statistically significant positive correlation between clinical among ( r = 0.737, p 0.000). Conclusion Neuron-specific be applied single independent prediction mortality patients.

Acute Phase Reactants as a Prognostic Factor in Acute Stroke

Introduction: Elevated levels of CRP are present among patients at risk for further first-ever myocardial infarction and stroke. It has been shown that after ischemic stroke, increased levels of CRP are associated with unfavorable outcomes. Methods: From 120 patients admitted to the emergency unit of our hospital with the diagnosis of stroke CRP, D-dimer and ferritin level was measured and the ...

Diagnostic Significance of Ischemia-Modified Albumin, S100b, and Neuron-Specific Enolase in Acute Ischemic Stroke

Objective: Use of biochemical markers of cerebral ischemia is a newly favored approach for early diagnosis of ischemic stroke. Our aim was to establish the sensitivity and specificity of ischemia-modified albumin (IMA) in acute ischemic stroke and to compare it with S100b and neuron-specific enolase (NSE). We also intended to investigate the usefulness of a panel composed of these three biomark...

dysphagia in acute ischemic stroke

Introduction: Swallowing dysfunction complicates acute strokes in 25-32% of cases and directly affects patientschr('39') prognosis and recovery. Dysphagia complicates the course of acute strokes through its potential of the development of chest infection, nutritional problems, and dehydration.  Dysphagia is also an independent predictor of respiratory morbidity and mortality in acute stroke. In...

Prognostic value of somatosensory evoked potentials, neuron-specific enolase, and S100 for short-term outcome in ischemic stroke.

To predict short-term outcome in acute ischemic stroke, we analyzed somatosensory evoked potentials (SEP) and biochemical parameters [neuron-specific enolase (NSE) and S100 protein] in a prospective study with serial measurement. In 31 patients with 1st middle cerebral artery infarction, serum NSE and S100 protein were measured daily between days 1 and 6 poststroke. The N20 and N70 components o...
